Accelerated Reader points are totaled up at the end of each quarter. At the beginning of each quarter, student's are given the Star Test. This tells the students what their reading level will be for AR. Typically in 2nd grade we would like them to be able to read at least a 2.0 and up. From the reading level, student's will be given their own person point goal. This goal should be attained by the end of every month.
Every quarter we will be rewarding the children who reach their goal. They will be able to choose a movie to watch while those who didn't meet their goal will be reading.
For the 4th quarter, this will be counted as part of their reading grade. This is simply to prepare students for the rest of their career at Villa Grove Schools. Starting in 3rd grade, each child is required to attain a certain amount of points per quarter as part of their grade. Here are some useful links to give you more information on AR if needed.
